Filmmaker Jamie Sharps

Hello my name is Jamie Sharps I'm 32 years old and live in Holderness, NH. I was bit by the filming bug when I turned 18 and my parents high school graduation present was a small vhs-c camcorder. After making countless short films having my little sister beat, maim, slash, and shoot whoever dared to step in front of the camera, it was time to get serious. In 2002 I enrolled for 2 months at a New York Film Academy Guerilla filmmaking seminar. Using 16mm Arriflex cameras I shot three short films and learned the art of filmmaking. This was the kick in the ass I needed to start making better independent films. When I returned home I immediately started writing and ammasing all the film equipment I would need for my first film "Half Dead". I soon realized how painfully easy it is to max out my credit cards!

Half Dead

I pulled together a rag tag cast of old friends and poor souls who had no idea what kind of torturous hell I would put them through. The ace in the hole was getting permission to shoot in and around an old farmhouse. I immediatey talked the live in caretaker Reggie into letting me spray fake blood on the walls, smash windows, and break down doors in return for an acting role. This film was a good excuse to break stuff and push all my friends acting nerves to the limit! The end result was a raw, campy thriller with lots of laughs and over the top action scenes.

Tucker's Crossing

With my first film under my hat and learning to write, produce, and direct through trial and error, I was now more prepared to shoot "Tucker's Crossing". With a stronger storyline and having a cast with theatre experience, this shoot went much smoother and was very different. The majority of the film was shot outdoors and mother nature can be very unforgiving . Bitten by bugs, constant rain and lighting changes was hard to endure but we pulled through.
